I'm about to purchase a 1996 GS-T with a blown engine in it. I was wondering what type (if any) of other engines could fit into that model of a car because I was contemplating upgrading to a more powerfull/efficient engine. (since I need to replace the engine already) also if anyone know's a good site or two for purchasing either low milage engines or rebuilt/new engines if they could post those as well that would help a great deal...

Stock 2g motor bolts right in. Stock 1g needs a little modification. If I were you I would just rebuild the one you have or buy one without a blown motor.

If you can handle doing some modification, shoot for a 1g 6 bolt. If not, just throw another 7 bolt in. The 4G63 is the best and only engine for your car.

Search around, as you can find plenty of How-To tech articles and threads about the swaps.

i agree with 10minute...a rebuild would definitly be the best money wise...it sounds like you want to do something expensive though...im not familiar with having money so i cant help you out with a different engine to go with

Thanks for the fast replies guys. Yeah I dont have much money so I'm looking for something pretty cheap. I would rebuild the engine the car already has in it but it has a hole in the block, and a couple of rods would need replacing as well. I'm told that replacing the rods would be just as much as buying a new engine. But then again, Maybe I should look for one without a blown out engine LOL. Also considering looking for a 300gt VR-4, love the body styles on those cars, and AWD is what I'm looking for but I'm thinking getting a cheap GS-T and replacing the engine would be a more cost efficient solution to my car wants. Anyways I'm rambling, but thanks for the feedback guys...

If your short on cash the last thing you need is a 3000GT VR4 (expensive and expensive to fix), and if your looking for an AWD car your gonna want a GSX not a GST :thumb:

Good luck with whatever option you choose.

Is swapping extremely costful? Is it even worth the money? I was thinking, if i got a GSX second generation DSM, that i may want to swap to prevent crankwalk. However, i am not sure that is the way to go?
