i changed my timing belt the other day and ever since it misses at all rpm's and blowing gas out of the tail pipe. i lined up all the marks, pulled number one plug, all that. at tdc the crank mark was just past the timing mark. i've tried to adjust the cps(even pulled the bolts to get more adjustment just to see if i had it a tooth off). it's kinda acting like the o2 sensor so i checked it and i'm getting no voltage or resistance from it. no voltage from the harness side. is there any other way to check it to make sure before i spend the money on a new one. seems funny it was fine before i changed the timing belt. any suggestions ?

isn't the timing supposed to be like 5 degrees btc. when i timed it i took my piston to the point where it stopped moving up and that made my crank mark just a hair past the mark on the motor. it's dragging and popping a little when i try to fire it up so should i try to retard my timing belt back a tooth or two or what. come on someone with the experiance give me a tip.

well i redid my timing belt and made sure that the marks were dead on and it's running a little bit better but not like it was before i changed the belt. the o2 sensor is getting no reading from the harness side like my manaul said it should. there's still a miss in it and it's blowing some gassy oily smoke out the tailpipe. i'm almost 80 miles into the break in and before the timing belt i bout had the smoke gone. well i'm selling the thing and the guy buying it wants to drive it from northeast tennessee to north georgia instead of trailoring it. he wants to put the parts car on a trailor. i want to get this thing running good enough for it to make the trip even though i told him it wasn't a very good thing for the motor to be driving that far yet. but heck it will be his car. can someone help me to diagnose this problem.
thanks
