from what i read everywhere else i cannot find an answer to my question. Is it even possible to run DSMlink on a non eprom ecu, or do you have to socket the ecu and that is why eprom is neccessary. If not any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you guys and girls

You have to have an EPROM ECU. This is so they can remove the current EPROM chip and put a socket in there. Then you can install a programmed EPROM chip into the socket. With a non-EPROM ECU, the circuit board isn't setup to have that chip/socket there so you can't go and add a socket.

But, since you have a '95, you may have an EPROM as that's the only year 2g's came with them. Here's how to check:
DSMLink - FAQ - EPROM

And this has been covered many times before.

the only problem is i do have an eprom ecu, but that was for my original motor. i ordered a jdm motor and ecu car runs great. i put the eprom in and car wont run. i am not sure what year model the motor is from. what would i have to change to put the eprom back in.

Your new motor shouldn't make any difference unless I'm missing something. Maybe there is something wrong with your old ECU. My engine didn't come with an eprom ECU but I have one now and it runs just fine.
