Engine making a bad ticking noise

ok i just took my 2g gs out of storage for the winter and i was drivin it for about a day. next day i'm on the onramp for a highway pushin third a lil at like 5grand it bogs for a second and then goes back to normal so i thought i just might have hit the rev limiter. a little later in the day it starts ticking in all the gears when i get to about 3 grand and up. it got a lil bit worse the next day so i checked and there didn't seem to be any oil in it to my surprise. i did an oil change and put in engine treatment, and oil treatment and it took care of a lot of the problem but there's still a bit of a ticking noise. what might it be i have 94,780 on the odometer and it was running perfectly before all of this happend??? any recommendations as to what i shoud do cuz i really don't have money to be paying for like throwing a rod.

that all sounds very weird. i was under the impression that the N/T lifters were the same as the turbo ones...any N/T guys out there have any input?

2G NTs have completely different engines, thus lifters are different.
1G2.0s have identical lifters in Turbo and NA versions.

Can anyone suggest a website that sells revised lifters ? Thanks.

ok, there it is, 1G 2.0 NT have the same lifters...thats where i got the idea from =) ...Call 1-888-855-9712 for revised lifters...they are $7.74 each...I believe its called valley engine parts, they are in texas...Thats where i got mine from.

Ok I was looking up part names/numbers for the "lifters" you are talking about....I think they are called "hyrdaulic valve adjusters". The ticking is called valve lash. Excess clearance b/t the tip of the valve and the rocker is taken up by the engine oil pressure acting against a plunger in the adjuster. Right?

So if the ticking still continues after changing the "adjuster's" would the next idea be poor oil pressure? or is there some sort of "priming" that needs to be done with the adjuster?

you should prime the lifters before the install.

I've ordered a set for $150 (including overnight shipping !)
The squirter hole is SOOOO much bigger on those !
I haven't had a chance to put the last one (the one that's has been getting jammed on me all the time) in, so can't tell you how much better/worse those lifters are, but they do seem to 'dampen' pretty well.
