Because i'm sure they don't want their engine to ingest water when it rains. That foglight hole on the passneger side goes right to where the smic used to be (possible filter), and with no baffling in front of it, lots of water will get in there when you drive in the rain.

And I supposed it would be splitting atoms to put some sort of simple air damn in front of the filter so direct airflow wouldn't hit it but the benifits of colder/denser air would still apply.

the ass is for amusment.. anyway im going to use some flexable dryer hose and sheet metal and make a belly pan for under the motor then ill make a ram air system useing the dryer hose..

the only prob im encountering is that it keeps stalling upon decel or stopping. and the idle is erratic.. i set the timeing and still no luck

The rain water effect will in NO way stop your engine. Been talked about to death. As long as you are not prone to driving into 3' puddles a simple setup is just fine.

yeah, it's been Talked about to death.

How many cars have you hydrolocked from experimentation of putting your filter in front of your wheel? That's how my first car died (buick park avenue). I wish i would have made a baffle to put infront of the filter because that was a damn good car.

I'm sure you can make a baffle to put the filter down there. I never said it was impossible.

Do a little search and you will see the weekly CAI thread.

None

I know, hense the simple setup comment. I would never point the filter directly toward the rain and let it just get saturated. The area were the intercooler sits is a simple area to get a worthwhile setup going on. Build an extention that sort of trumpets out for track use. A coupler to connect a filter and easily make the swap to a trumpet. :thumb:

with as much as i have investin into my beast.. i dont even want to fathom the idea. i just found out one of my brothers little deliquent retard friends jacked my pocket logger so im kinda stuck until i can get a replacement.. unless anyone in oregon wants to cruse on up and give a brotha a hand..

You didn't reuse any 14 year old vacuum hoses, did ya? Also, don't forget to check those electrical connections (particularly in the ignition circuit). I just spent about an hour with my power transistor and a few miniature metal files, getting rid of some caked on corrosion. It was causing an erratic ignition malfunction that was ruining all my fun. Some of those "waterproof" connectors aren't so waterproof anymore on cars as old as ours. The rubber boot on my power transistor connecter looked pretty bad. I wonder if I can still get a new one from the local Satan. I guess I'll find out tomorrow. :laser:

well here is the end result.. the issue with the idle was a mixture of the biss and i needed to adjust the fuel pressure. but ive driven it 100 miles so far and its good
