Okay dumbass question but - I've read a lot of threads and cannot find the answer. Should the rod boot be right down the middle when in neurtral or when in gear?

I've got what seems to be the dreaded new clutch, no go into gear, shifts fine when not running, grinds in reverse, adjusted clutch rod, bleed sytem till half a bottle of brake fluid gone, want to hang myself situation. If read all the threads so I guess new master cylinder first I guess. Them pull the thing back apart. Just want to check on the pushrod situation - and no I didn't replace the ball like I should have because I'm a dumbass as stated before.

Thanks!

Oh yes, not bumping but had a ACT 2100 in but upgraded to a Fidanza 3.2 due to slipage.

This one can be closed. I ended up pulling the transmission again after new master and slave cylinder. Turns out the pressure plate bolts were too loose. I was trying not to over torque. Thanks to a post I found somewhere here I learned that the plate fingers should be pulled in so that they are parallel to the disk. Mine were not so the clutch wouldn't disengage.

I also put a new ball in but I doubt that was the real issue:dsm:.

torque the PP bolts to 18-20 ft/lbs.

Thanks - yep I tightened them to 20 ft/lbs this time around. I read 15 ft/lbs but wasn't going to take any chances.

Funny thing is went for a cruise that night - fine. The next day I drove it to work - fine. Then jump in to go home and it won't go into gear again. So I was just a little upset and jammed it into reverse and it's been fine ever since:confused:.

I happened again today - both times I was parked on an incline. You mean put it into a forward gear first and pull ahead a bit? I'll give that a try next time. Thanks.
