ok well i've noticed recently(past week or so) that when i drive around for any extended amount of time my temp gauge has been rising above the normal position, i've even had to turn the heater on several times to keep from getting into the red at the top of the gauge. i checked my coolant level and it seems good. oil level is good and i changed the oil not 500 miles ago. my fans seem to be working so i'm thinking maybe a sensor is going out? anything would help

the 2 most likely candidates are the thermostat or the water pump.

Pull the thermostat and see if it gets hot without it. if not it was the thermostat.

Pull the upper radiator pipe and start the car...if the water pump is working water will pour out...even with the thermostat in (it has a wheeping hole).

However if the heater fixes the problem it is probably the thermostat.
