Engine code after head rebuild

Okay so my timing snapped an my valves bent. We got a head n put it on with all new gaskets. And we went to start it but it isnt getting spark on the outer pistons. the inner are getting spark. The outer are getting in once in while. The guy didn't unplug the battery and when we were putting everything back together the maifold started glowing red against the starter. and so when we went to go start it. It wouldnt turn over. we replaced the coil pack n stuff. He checked the car n its throwing a p0340 code? anyone have a clue. this is a non turbo btw

The P0340 is code for Camshaft Position sensor circuit.

The sensor itself could be bad. Check power, ground and signal ouput. You could use an OHM meter, ground it to battery - test wires for
Power = yellow 12v
Ground = black w/ green 0v
Signal Output = the last wire with a red stripe. should change while cranking (can't remember what color off hand)

Possibly a pinched wire which will keep burning up the sensor.
Check all wires in area
