Hey guys, I'm new to the thread and I'm in east el paso. I was wondering if anyone had replaced the rubber inserts from the motor mounts and filled them with Window weld instead of buying polyurethane inserts? Need help please :)

I bought the full set of prothane mounts, and not the inserts that go into the stock rubber(if that makes sense), I like them. They aren't pricy so I say buy them then hassle with the mess and uglyness with just trying to fill them with goo.

Alright thanks! I'm gonna go ahead and buy the poly inserts. Did you have to press them in with a press?

The new ones slide in very easily. To get the old ones out I recommend drilling through the rubber and then cutting the metal sleeve with a reciprocating saw (or even a Dremel will work).

Only the front one to get the lip over, I used a c clamp and a vice, but everything else was simple. Reciprocating, or and hand saw, Get a line through it and bend it in and it slides right out.

wow seems we have been chatting up rubber a lot in the past few days LOL. just wanted to let you guys know that i will be home sooner than expected so the build, beer, and bbq will be going on at my house if any one feels like getting some free drinks and food. but for sure will start putting stuff in stone when i get back over the dsm meet and cruze.

Careful which set you're getting for a 2G. It looks as if both the Energy suspensions and the Prothanes use a insert type to stiffen the Front and rear OE mount. For the prothanes, the left and right have a common part number between the two indicating that they can be used on all DSM's. I seem to remember a threat on here where someone used window weld or similar stuff to fill it in. It was a terribly painful process in my book and much to complicated. Short story long, there was a centering jig he had made up to center the bushing on all 3 axises and poured a little at a time to cure it all.

Here's a Freelancers poly kit (granted it's only the front and rear)

BACK ON CAR STUFF AGAIN!!!!

its not a stock trans. i got a stage 3 shep trans to go with my new motor so want to make sure im doing this all right.

A 2G trans correct? 1G's had the roll stops off the front and back of the motor, while the 2G's according to ASA has them off the transmission. Big difference there...

The top trans is a pic out of ASA showing the roll stops on the 2G parts (21832 and 21832P). The lower is a 1G trans showing the lack of roll stops due to them being on the motor.

If in not mistaken, the 97 -99 trannys have a different transfer case to the early models 95-96. I remember reading this somewhere. The transfer case from the 1gs is interchangeable only with the 95-96 trannys. It has to do with the ratios.

Sorry, this could be kinda incomplete, if I find the link later today, I'll post it up.
