my exhaust egrt are at 300 degrees celcius at idle and around 150-200 at wot. why would they be so low? i have an exhaust cutout right at the first bend of the exhaust and no cat, but that should not drop temps that low. i read these egt's using my logger.
if you have any ideas please help

There is something wrong with your probe or guage. Make sure the probe isn't touching anything (is reading air temp in the runner).

By the way, where is your probe installed?

this is using my logger, i do not have a probe on my exhaust manifold. doesnt the o2 sensor measure egt's?
thanks for the help

I have told you in another post that you need to do some research before making posts like this. This post definately confirms that. Nothing you posted in this thread makes any sense at all. Use the search button and do A LOT OF READING.

EGT's are exhaust gas temperatures which are measure by EGT probes. O2 sensors measure the amount of oxygen in the post combustion effluent. O2 sensor readings are from 0 - 1 V (theoretically). Where did you get 300 from?

on my logger it has egrt logged and that is what i thought i could use as a egt gauge maybe im wrong.

another thing is that posted this thread a while back, i have sense learned that i require a egt gauge and sensor to properly measure egt's. hey but thanks for being so cool about it...

So you now know that DSMs don't come with EGT sensors from the factory and the ECU has no way of logging them, right?

i knew that from the beginning, but for some reason my logger has something called a EGRT and it logs that everytime. what does that stand for? i am not knew to cars guys, the only reason i post stupid topics i guess sometimes is because maybe somebody went through my confusion at one time or another, but i always do searches before i ask because it cool to read other peoples experiences. sometimes it is out of desperation, because i am having to many small problems with my car right now an i am trying to figure things out, and it gets to be too much at times.
sorry for the stupid post though, but there no need to rag on somebody or make them feel stupid, i dont do that to others and i do not expect that to happen to me.

Sorry, I was just bored and was picking up threads that no one replied to in the last couple weeks. I hate seeing someone need some help, and then no one respond, then they bump their own thread, then it gets locked.

Back on topic, are you repeatedly doing a typo, or is it really E-G-R-T?

The EGRT is something completely different from EGT's. Do a search on it, there are some interesting threads related to what you can do with the port. I know nothing about it so I won't say it can do this or that.

id say you are talking about the exhaust gas recirculation valve temp, the one that only comes on California emissions cars and is read by the ecu, its really for emissions purposes only not for logging for performance

EGRT is the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temp sensor on CA cars ONLY. This has nothing to do with Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT). It's just a way for the ECU to keep tabs on the EGR valves function on CA emission vehicles. Some people with modified ECU's use the EGRT input to log other values, provided this input is connected to something other than the EGRT sensor itself.

Since the EGR valve is only supposed to be open during part-throttle driving, the readings 91-gsx sees on his logger would be correct, since the valve closes at WOT. Logging EGRT is useless for tuning purposes.

That said, if you want to know what your Exhaust Gas Temp (EGT) is, you will need a probe and a gauge to read it.
