EGT probe placement, good or bad idea?

I have a DNP SS manifold on my car and I need to install my EGT probe in it. I have a small weld on bung for it but placement is the questions with the bends and such of the manifold. I know all the details about the best place to put it already (distances from the head and all) but I wanted to see if where I planned was a good call or not. On the underside of the #1 and #2 runners (underside) theres a straight section for 2-3 inches. The top side where most people put is curves very shortly off the head. Will putting it on the underside negatively affect anything other then access to it? Knowing its the probe tip that takes the readings I feel it will be fine here but wanted to check before I go drilling and welding into my manifold.

Thanks!

The additional heat will be that much harder on the wiring, and will make it harder to replace when it dies in eight months. Many think that putting it before the turbo is a bad idea, for where the shrapnel goes when it dies. As for functionality, the primary consideration is trend-tracking. You mostly want to be able to keep tabs on what's "normal" for your setup, with the hope that you'll see when things aren't soon enough to save the motor.
