under what conditions does the egr open and close. i would like to know what would happen if you route the egr tube back into the egr valve? would that stay closed, open? does it need pressure to stay closed or stay open?
thanks

The EGR operates (open) mainly during cruise. It's closed during idle and high load conditions, either in boost or at WOT when there's zero vacuum.

If you don't want to use the EGR then it's best to block it off; boost does hold the pintle closed when the engine is at boost so I suppose it could be possible that the exhaust flow could force it open.
