I finally got to pick up the TSi this week....YAY!!!! So, it was bought with the 4G63T torn apart.... The only thing left in it was the tranny and block on motor mounts.... Everything else in a BIG ole tub....LOL.... Well, anyways so it was a 4G63T swap the guy did on the car, so I started to get part numbers to check this stuff out.... The ECU No. matched to be a '90 EPROM ECU..... I'd planned on rebuilding this motor, but it is missing lots of small bolts, etc... So, the smart sensible thing to do is just buy another motor to drop in... thats what I plan on doing, but my question is do I have to get another '90 motor with this ECU b/c I've read that '90 ECUs dont match up with other 6-bolt 91-92's or just 1G's for that matter....

Well, yeah it was an entire 6 bolt swap.... So your sayin' put a 2G IM on the 6 bolt setup and it'll work right? If so I guess I can find a 2G IM at the junkyard....

The difference on the 90 is the wiring. This doesnt have to do with the motor itself really, just the wiring on the throttle body and cam sensor. Also on a 90 ecu in a 91-94 car you have to swap pins 6 and 14 on the ecu for it to work correctly. Its not about the 6 bolt its about the ecu and harness.: Edited pin outs (sorry my fingers cant keep up with my thinking)

I knew that... I stated it in my first post that my concern was the wiring and what changed... And your posted helped a lot, thanks I appreciate it bro.... Any other wiring changes anyone can think of?

this may be alittle off topic, but since you have a 90 eprom i would just trade it to someone for a 91-94 eprom no wiring changes or pin swap etc.. direct bolt in, there are alot of people looking for 90 eproms they are in big demand, or u could sell it and for less money than u sold it for buy the correct 91-94 eprom ecu ..just a thought

on a side not heres the vfaq page for the 1g ecu pinouts http://vfaq.com/mods/ecu-harness-1G.html

to correct "Auto RS T" above, its pins (6 and 14) u need to swap

I appreciate the info big time, guys!!! Yeah, I've considered doing a sell/trade on the
'90 EPROM for '91-'94 EPROM.... I probably will and make it easier on myself!!!LOL.....
