1G ECMlink V3 Question.

When I bought my car it already had a socketed ECU, and an ECMlink V3 chip in it, but the previous owner didn't have the cable/software. He had another local speed shop tune it for him. My question is since it already has a V3 chip can I just download the software and buy the cable and be able to log/tune?

Edit: I should add it already has a wideband installed also.
