I'm looking to buy this double DIN stereo for my Eclipse and I have a few questions about it...

Can I use my stock bracket to install it?

Has any one here used this stereo before?

It looks pretty cool, I had a single DIN stereo and I always feel like someones going to steal it so I'm looking for something that might look stock...

Any comments of ideas are welcomed thanks!

I guess it would stop someone from wanting to steal it. I think it looks like crap, but as long as it works, I guess. It just seems too big. Is there a 6 disk changer in there? You are taking up valuable space here. imo

Stock bracket probably won't work. It might, but if not there are brackets you can find for around$20...

Thought about getting CD player with detatchable face? Front mount usb, bluetooth, touchscreen, DVD-rw playback, remote and detachable face are the deal breakers for me on stereo's. If there isn't one of those features, I will not buy.

I install stereo's, and if you're looking for stock look, stay stock. Otherwise, go big.

IMO< get a single din with detachable face. This usually is enough to deter potential stereo jackers

DIN also includes specs on where the screw holes are, and it should mount to the stock brackets without issue. If there is an issue then you can always drill a few holes in the brackets rather than getting crappy aftermarket plastic crap bracket. Nakamichi also makes OEM-looking stereos and are probably way better quality than Eclipse. Their USA site doesn't even have any audio products despite saying they are a manufacturer of that stuff.

Yes you will be able to screw that to the stock plates. I dont have that model, But I have a Pioneer Double DIN in my car and it bolts up perfectly.

You can also screw single din radios into the stock plates. I have never used those shitty sleeves in any of my DSM's.

I had a JVC stereo with cdrw playback mp3 and the detatchable face plate, but Iv had a too many of my friends have there cars broken into.

all I really want is something that will do the job cheaply and effectively and this units looks like it has it all short of a LCD with dvd playback, plus If i wanted to watch a dvd, it wouldnt be in my car...

fyi someone broke into my gf car last night and took the car battery, they smashed the passanger side rear window... mother Fers!

Screw the stereo, you need to just move. Stealing battereies huh? Thats some crackhead sh*t. Only reason I have dvd player is for passengers. I take a lot of roadtrips, and the dvd player is very popular. I'm a technology geek anyways. Blinder m27 are next

Eclipse used to make super high quality audio gear (Headunits and Amps especially) but they completely stopped their aftermarket operations at the beginning of 2010. They are a subsidy of Fujitsu-Ten which is owned by Toyota, and their nav systems are in pretty much every Toyota/Lexus.

For the OP, I would stick with a single DIN if you don't need a screen, as you can leave the other DIN free for gauges, etc. One trick I always recommend is hiding the faceplate under the seat, and leaving the glove box open. Since most people are dumb enough to put their faceplate in the glove box, thieves will still break into your car and open it.
