Was just wondering if anyone has had the guts or the money to buy something like these and what results they have had. I'm not wanting to buy them and hoping i dont get ripped off so no flaming is necessary i just saw them while i was skimming through ebay today and was wondering if anyone has ever ran something like this. Thanks.

I was lookin at those two. They're not a no name brand daren thinks but I still agree with him. Like this auction ended at 295 plus shipping for 65 dollars more you can have a 1 year warrenty and a little more piece of mind which is priceless. :thumb: By the way the 65 more is cause dks 272's(ffwd cams) go for 365 shipped to your door.

I agree with the above posts. I'm runnkng the DKS (ffwd) 264/272 cams and am 100% satisfied with them. There is a $40 refundable core charge, but after that I had them on my doorstep for $365 about 2 days after I ordered them. Great upgrade for the money and FFWD answers emails quickly and ships the same.

man i would never risk something like cams in the name of price. HKS, COMP and others have shown to be quality and reliable. Something so vital to a build should not be something you look on ebay for bud.

Everyone is giving sound advice, IMHO, too. Cams are too critical and can break too many expensive components. Though, I believe that a brand like HKS is rediculously overrated for the results that can be achieved with competing brands, spend your money in your head. Spending too much is better than "cheaping out" here.

A few quotes in the ebay ad bother me. In particular:

"ENGINEERED SO THEY ARE ABLE TO BE USED WITH FACTORY SPRINGS IF NECESSARY

THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED BY CHANGING THE RAMP ANGLE SO THE SPRINGS ARE NOT ACCELERATED SO RAPIDLY
"

This would not be so much of an issue w/ me except for the fact that the ramp rates of HKS 272 and FP2s are not aggressive at all. In fact, many have taken stock springs to 8500 rpms for high miles w/ 272s and their counterparts FP2s. DKS grinds are exactly like 272s, so I'm sure it is much the same with these as well. So what do they mean? Higher ramp rates greatly increase the 'power under the curve'. Yet, they are chosing less steep lobe ramping. However, they state:

"THEY HAVE BEEN DESIGNED SO YOU DO NOT LOOSE ANY "AREA UNDER THE CURVE" AS YOU DO WITH ALOT OR REGRINDS"

What? are they similar to 264s or FP1s? or are they similar to 272s or FP2s? Perhaps they are like 272s but w/ more overlap:

"THESE CAMS CAUSE A ROUGH IDLE SIMILAR TO HKS 272 CAMS, A SLIGHT LOSS TO LOW END ABOUT FACTORY MID RANGE AND BIG GAINS FOR TOP END PERFORMANCE"

My FP2Xs (very similar to 272s but a bit more aggresive) do not have a rough idle at all. In fact, I did not know my tach was inaccurate and I was really idling at 650 rpms all last fall! Yet, overlap will kill topend performance for most turbo setups we run (smaller hotside and huge cold side). BTW, my FP2Xs have a ferocious midrange.

At least email for the .050" lift duration and Peak lift, lobe spread angle or separation, and the .050" lift cam timing. Why the cam specs were not included in the advertisement, I would not know. And, leaves me suspect.

Get the above numbers and I think we can atleast get a good feel for what these cams can do in real life. Cam performance generally CAN be predicted. But, these numbers are neccesary to get a decent "weather forcast".
