Ebay boost gauges?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

My Glowshift boost gauge has always been within a few PSI of my Omnipower 4-bar MAP sensor. My Glowshift oil pressure gauge has been use to double-check multiple AEM units on friends cars. And both have been problem free for years, which is more than my AEM wideband can say...

I've learned to spend in some areas and be cheap in others whereas before I was just globally cheap. Some people need to go through experiences to learn their lessons and I was one of them.

I am still cheap and still a little skeptical when folks tell me not to be cheap but I am tired of being burned...especially on Ebay.

If you are going to be cheap, be cheap with something that you can easily verify that is not working or something that is not mission critical.

Also make sure that the seller will pay for return shipping on their dime if you aren't happy with something. Amazon is great for that.

I liked my Prosport. The sender finally failed on it after 5 years of it being on the car. I'm also pretty sure it got wet when I cleaned my engine bay. Oh well, I don't really make boost often anymore anyway.

I found this thread while trying to find reviews on Google for eBay "Dragon gauges". There seems to be very little info out there about them, so I decided to sign up and give my input on these gauges. I bought three of them: oil temp, oil pressure, coolant temp. I was excited because they were pretty cheap, had a digital readout, and looked good. Needless to say it was a waste of money. One gauge's backlight "flickered" out of the box, another one started flickering a couple weeks later. The sensors that come with these are just as cheap as the gauges. The elastomer seal surrounding the "stud" that holds the signal wire gets soft and the stud starts to rotate, even if you never tighten it more than slightly finger tight. The sensors began to lose accuracy in a couple of weeks and after a while my gauges would tell me my coolant temp was 350 degrees when it clearly was not. I used a hand held infrared thermometer to verify the readings. Oil pressure began reporting things like 2 psi at idle (which would trip the stock dash low oil pressure lamp if that were really the case) Don't bother wasting your money on these pieces of crap.

I wouldn't buy anything like this from eBay unless it was name brand. I have a AEM boost gauge and it has never failed me and works great. I have 2 friends running Autometer gauges and they love those as well. If I were to recommend one I'd get Autometer. Everyone likes them.

Definitely true. I got lucky and found a working Autometer ATM6327 on eBay for $24 shipped! Out of this world!
