So my stock T-25 in my 95tsi awd auto blew finally 115k miles on it. And I bought a used agp rs49 50 trim turbo which I sent out to be rebuilt. Since I dont have the supporting mods for the 50 trim right now I say hell for 400 bucks lets see how bad these ebay kits really are, all you guys complain and moan and groan. Today the kit came from SSAutoTrash(chrome). And to my amazement it looks really well done. All the fittings and gaskets and studs i'll need are there. I'm pretty afraid of using the O2 dump to atmo housing it came with for noise reasons but it is really well made. The manifold is tubular and is also very well made, no slag on the welds everything has been ground clean and ported. The Flanges are very thick. Now heres the kicker the turbo LOOKS really clean and the exhaust side has obviously been ported and cleaned up nicely and it came with an adjustable waste gate actuator. Who knows how long the bearings will hold though.. I'm crossing my fingers. The kit also came with a lower IC pipe with a nipple already in it for bosot source and a J pipe for us 2g guys to hook up to the right spot. Even the oil feed line it came with is actually quality braided stainless and the return line and water line are as good or better than stock quality. I am no fan of cheap parts and I have a 2000 mustang that I drag and run 10.20's consitantly so I know you get what you pay for, believe me the parts I run in that car are not found on ebay. But we'll see what happens. If anybody wants to know I'll post some post install info about how easy or hard it was and how long it holds up. This is just my daily driver and I could always drive the mustang if this kit kills my car, although local cops aren't fans of slicks and long tube headers ;)

nycxjoey, can you take alot/detailed pics of your install process. No one has really done this, the original poster just abandoned his thread and never updated us. :(

No problem bud,I search and search thru out a few forums and it seems that this turbo recent has become better. So i am taking my chances.I order the turbo on Thur. and it ship out on friday and arrive on monday.(Super Fast to me & very well packed)I have already open the box last night.I saw the turbo and the install kit.It looks to me like everything is there.I haven't taking it out from the plastic wrapping that came with the turbo.(But I will try to take some pictures tonight of the turbo & install kit).

Well ladies and gentleman, ive had the ebay evo 3 for a year now at 20psi and just pulled it off so I can put on my 50 trim. Not going to lie this turbo did hold up for me but there are details. for one I can move the compressor housing about half inch back and forth!!!! and maybe a quarter inch of in and out of shaft play, but almost no side to side. the metal they use is really sheap and the bolts strip out like butter. I was having some boosting issues with it and finally decided it had to go. if you want pics of a 8000 mile ebay turbo that lived till the end let me know ill send them. IM NOT ADVOCATING THESE TURBOS. I got lucky and mine held up for a year. but guys that was only a year, thats not a very long turbo life. working with this turbo was a great learning experience but its no fun driving and worrying every day your turbo might blow

Why even ask if we want to see it and email it to people one by one. You can easily attach them in a post. Dont use quick reply, use post reply or "go advanced" and it will show an option to attach your image from your hd.

Thank you captain obvious, i wasnt about to eamil it to anyone, i was just saying the turbos is out and if people wanted pics ill POST them, and maybe take the turbo apart for pics of the inside, but i wasnt about to do that if no one wanted to see them

dammnn all the SSautochrome buyers are coming out the woodworks LOL. I didnt buy the ebay one but i did buy the BBL evo 3 GT which i think was somewhat better tehn the ebay kit. and i iloved it..i think its on its second owner now..still no shaft play. the turbo must have at least 5k on it. and everyday i drove was full boost at 21psi. it was fun feeling it rip. good luck to you all. hope to hear some good reviews.

Well the evo 3 gt is better then the straight ebay turbo, but it just came out that the gt turbo was a knock off to... people have just had better luck with the gt.

Now compare that to the real evoIII that I have ran for the past 2 seasons. I probably have put about 20K miles on it, running 18-22 psi daily. Side to side shaft play is the same as it was when new (side to side play is normal for a std thrust bearing & is required for proper lubrication) & zero in/out shaft play (the bad type of play).

So I basically paid around double what one of these knock off setups are going for but who got the better deal in the long run? Im defently going to say I did as after 2 summers, Im selling mine for well more then half of what I paid for it & the other guys is going in the garbage.

Ive put 17000 on my ebay turbo 18-20 psi daily and it has no shaft play, never turbo timed but I usually waited about 30 seconds to turn it off. So Im pretty sure I got the better deal:D

anyone run any better #'s than 13's with these? im looking to dive into the mid 12's and was looking favorably on the big 16g for the snail to get me there(with the proper upgrade path of course). let me know if anyone has any better 1/4 mi times:thumb:

I've run a 12.5 on my beater. DSMLink, 3" turbo back, SSAC kit, 1000 cc inj's, 3500 stall converter (yea it's auto), ebay front mount. You def. don't need that kind of injector or even 3" exhaust to go 12's. I was hoping the turbo would break this year so I could justify replacing it with a 50 or 60 trim. No such luck.. LOL

There is a reason there are so many horror stories about their turbos. Every company can have a few set of bad turbos produced, but compare how many of the competitor's turbos, like greddy, hks...., make it out to their customers cars in order to find out they are bad turbos.

You also have to think about waht % of their turbos are bad. Every company is going to have a bad turbo every now and then, its just comes down to how many they are ok with having before they decide to do something about it. It seems like the knockoff 16g's seem to have more fail then the real 16g's do and because of that i would stick with the real thing.
