Okay. So. Issue. Got the car, rest drive it plenty of times. And then. Issue. . We'll the story goes, 97' eclipse 5-speed with the 2.0 Okay. So I stop at a light, and make a right turn. Still in 1st gear the car hits about 4.5 to 5grand and that's when I go to throw it into second. And it stops. No power to the wheels, no power to the motor at all. No power steering absolutely nothing. So I figure, battery is completely shot and alternator is too but no code. So I turn it off and try to start again. Tries to crank over, but no starting. Thought it was the timing belt right away, so I called my uncle, told him it has 59k miles on a 97 and almost all original parts.. He also said sounds like timing belt, so I had it a flat bed take it to his shop. I know it could be a computer, fuel filter clog, fuel pump, fuel rods, a real number of things. And I drove it about 10min then this happened... But I had driven it plenty of times before and the guy drives it like 5miles every couple of day.. So what's your input? If it didn't throw the belt and hit my valves, I will be happy. And with all that said. If it comes back a cheap repair... I will be replacing every belt, hose, tube, everything on that car to be safe. But again, my first eclipse.. I know more Hondas cause of my mom but seeing as the prelude is her car.. I can't really work on it LOL. So please! Masters of DSM give me your knowledge and wisdom!!! Thankyou!!!

Im not positive, but I think his car is n/a, 420a. If so, no balance shafts, and how could he destroy a cas if a bs belt went bad anyway? Edit: do u mean crank position sensor (CKP*)?

Check the belt, and if u can, post a video (w/audio) while cranking, preferably from the engine bay so we can hear cranking noises.

Non turbo 420a, and no, no loud pop, literally just driving, dump the clutch throw it in 2nd and nothing. I will post more as I can, it's at my uncles shop and he's looking at it now, but you guys know more off hand without looking so that's a plus, just hoping it didn't smash the valves
