As the title states. There were no metal shavings in the pan or anything and the oil looked very clean. Just wondering if there is anything I should checkout, as in the engine, before I put a new one on.

BTW this is why I changed the oil pan :ohdamn:

Zach, I didn't even touch a damn thing when i took my oil pan off. Check for crank play. I found a couple metal shavings in my oil but the bearings were new *I think* from the previous owner so I think they were adjusting to deficiencies in the metals of the crankshaft and rods.

Is it a good idea to put new bearings in an engine that has say 70K miles on it? I've always been told that could be a bad idea even if the current bearings have normal wear.

It's fine if you pull the block and have the parts gauged and machined if needed. Otherwise, leave the bearings alone if they are fine.

Yeah I just wanted to check just in case since I have it off because its not like you take the oil pan off every day LOL but I felt around and there's zero shavings anywhere and zero shaft play so that's good :D I also cleaned the filter of tiny pieces of rtv. Anything else I should check? If not I'm going to put the new pan back on today.
