Hey y'all I was driving home today and I started feeling a vibration when I force in first gear. Meaning, I have my hand on the shifter and I forcefully keep it in first gear and I feel a vibration till I get to 3k RPMS.

When I put the car in first and drive, it would be good, but when I engage it to a point where I almost stall the car, the shifter tries to pop out of gear but it doesn't.

There is an odd noise coming from the passenger side of the transmission and at idle has like a worn out rotating something noise in the transmission.

In gear and low RPM, I always had gearbox noise, but I always thought they were my axles because my axle boots are ripped, but they don't click.

Can my axles cause the transmission to pop out of gear? I changed my transmission gear oil a few months ago with Pennzoil Syncromesh as well.

I will keep you all informed when I go check underneath and check the gear oil level in my car.

I dont know if this applies to 2g owners or not. But I recall reading that their is a nut on the end of a gear set in the transmission that may work its way off and as it does it rubs against the front case of the transmission (the passenger side of the transmission). It somewhat sounds like what you described.

I don't use synchromesh because I think it is too thin and there are some instances where such products have been accused of eating bearings. I really enjoy Redline MT-90. My car enjoys thicker fluid. But, it sounds like there is some damage and there's nothing a fluid change can do about that.

Axles will not cause your transmission to pop out of gear. Can you describe further the sound your transmission is making? How old and what brand is the TOB?

Also, you may have better luck using a product that won't eat up DSM bearings like synchromesh is reported to do. I really enjoy Redline MT-90. My car enjoys thicker fluid.
Just to clear up something that sounds VERY alarming - synchromesh does NOT eat up DSM bearings. People always blame the oil brand for their tranny problems when it's nearly always something else: oil level too low or never changed, incorrect GL type or weight oil, rough shifting style, poor quality or incomplete tranny rebuild (eg. gearshaft bearing preloads not set properly), etc. Some have stated it eats away the syncros, however I've used it for 9 years w/o a problem as have many others (ask Defiant). Redline MT-90 is a great product, works well, and is recommended for AWD DSM's by nearly everyone on here. Redline MTL is recommended for FWD (according to their own label). I now use it in my FWD DSM.

I agree with what you're saying. I don't know enough about the chemistry to tell one way or another if that thought holds any water. And I've, admittedly, never seen any proof of something like that happening. So my position is simply that I have no need to use a product associated with such claims/rumors with no way to refute them on way or another. On one side the results are "devastating" (sarcasm) and the on the other side of the same coin you have yourself as well as the quite famous support of Defiant for the successful use of this same product. When you flip that coin, since the quantity and quality of the information available on the subject is like a 50/50 chance, the best case scenario is comparable, for me, to wishful thinking. I'd rather just not dick with it, not that I condemn the product or anything. I've used it myself, but I found it too thin for my tastes and made shifting quite notchy.

I ought to provide more complete information if I intend to mention something like this. But either way, as we've both concluded, this thread is not the result of fluid types. And thank you for adding to the Redline comment regarding MTL and MT90's intended transmission type.
