Hey you guys. I have done a lot of searching on this and have found two or three threads that relate to this, but none gave me any answers. One was telling me that the guy basically gave up because of the plate behind the wheel hub on ABS vehicles. Is there anyway I can get this off safely and reinstall without having to bring it to a dealer. Keep in mind that I have not done wheel studs before and have limited tools.

I have read the how-to article (article not for ABS cars) and I pretty much grasp the idea pretty well, but I just need help with the ABS plate. Anyone do this without bringing it to someone? Thanks

ABS plate? There's no such thing on dsm's. The ABS has a ring gear on the axel. To remove wheel studs simply remove brake caliper and rotor and then press or pound the studs out (in towards center of car). When installing new ones use wheel nuts to pull them in place.

There is an ABS ring on the hub, yes you are correct, for vehicles that have ABS. But it prevents you from just simply pounding out the wheel studs like you normally would. This ring needs to be removed in order to pound out the studs. However, I cannot figure out how to remove it. Do you or anyone else know how to remove this?

EDIT: Amazing, all of the posts asking about bovs and turbos are the ones that get answered.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

It appears that all of the research I had done on this website about the ABS wheel studs on this site was misinformation. The wheels studs on a vehicle with ABS can simply be pounded out just like with a non-ABS vehicle. I decided to bring my '92 awd to Tire Kingdom with new wheel studs and I watched them. They took off the wheel, caliper and rotor and pounded out the old studs. They then took the new ones and put them in through the back and pulled them through with a breaker bar and air gun. That was all there was to it. Hope this helps someone.

I was at work... sorry. :)

If I had been here I could have told you that, yeah, in most cases you can get the stud in and out with the hub on the car. I had to replace a broken stud once a long time ago and the guy doing it at Sears Auto couldn't figure out how to get the new stud in, but managed to wiggle it in. There isn't much space to work with though, I must say.
