alrite i am having a heck of a hard time chaning my lug nut studs. 3 out of the 5 broke off from the front driver side hub. now i have done this before on a 92 talon and i just had to take the brakes off and hit the studs with a hammer and they popped off..now i have got a 93 talon and when i opened up the brakes it seems liek there is a covering of some sort around the head of the studs? now i thought it was the same on all 1g's but i guess its not. how do i change the lug nuts studs?? i tried pounding on the studs and they wouldnt come out so before doing more damage i stopped. do i have to take the hub assembly out or do i just have to take that cover piece off some how??
thanks for the advice

if they are broke who cares if they get damaged. they might be a little rusted on so keep trying. i just did two studs on my car 2weeks ago. hit them with a hammer two or three times, they poped out. slide the new ones in, and i bought a regular nut for a car with steel wheels and a couple of washers to pull the studs in with. then your done.

I meant so the hub doesn't get damaged. A heavy object behind it will obsorb some of the impact, it probably isn't as critical on front wheels but more for the rears since they are supposed to be in a fixed position.

Your car must have ABS, if so they are a pain to replace. I recently did mine. The front hub will have to come off, I ended up using a gear puller to do mine. Once the hub is off you remove the two 10mm bolts and seperate the hub. Then you can put it in a vice and hammer the old studs out. Do yourself a favor and replace all five while you're in there. They are only a few bucks at NAPA.
