I have a 93 Tsi and I am in the process of upgrading the fuel system and replacing the stock turbo with a big 16g, I want to run a 55 wet shot. Does anyone think this will be a problem? engine is stock with 90k, and tuning with maft wideband 02, and an airfuel controller2.

I haven't looked into Nitrous too much. But I've read that you can either have boost or Nitrous or a moderate amount of both. There is going to be a trade off on how much of each you can run. I can't tell you how much though. As long as your fuel system can take it and you don't push your stock internals much past 400-450 I think you'll be fine.

Sorry dude, stock internals have been pushed to almost 600WHP (except studs and HG). As for nitrous and turbo, it depends on the boost you plan to run and when your going to shoot.

Best thing to do is to run nitrous until the turbo spools up to some psi (whatever you want) then have the turbo do the rest of the work.

Thats true, you dont want to over spin your turbo and get way out of the efficiency range.

600 on stock internals?! Dang! I'm not saying it can't or hasn't been done. But it's not a good/safe idea and I'll bet it didn't last him too long....Ever scene a rod get blown through the side of your block?,,,, well me niether haha,, but I've read of it happening and that sounds like what you'd be askin for with those numbers.

This is on several DD 4G63s...not a N/T engine. Old news, man. They've all been runnin for almost 2 years now :thumb:

I highly doubt the people pushing 600hp on stock "internaled" daily drivers are making use of all 600hp daily. Call me a bit outside the loop, but I'm thinking that's the realm of race gas and turning a few things up to eleven.

No secret that 600 is possible on a stock bottom end 4G63, but I think it's safe to say that the amount of power any engine can put down reliably and safely is entirely dependant upon tuning ability.

Personally, I would stick with the basic upgrades and get my feet good and wet with regards to tuning before I would throw the nitrous into the mix. It's like juggling, man. Once you get good with three balls, then try it with four...

You're correct about the race gas. I'm not telling these people to do this though. I'm saying it's been done. These cars are very popular in the chicago area if you're in doubt and no they're not any AMS cars. It wouldn't be fun if I told these people how to make it that far, right? That's for them to figure out themselves. Oh yea, reliability is ok if you don't mind the idle and givin it a bit of gas on start-up.

It won't be a problem. Run colder spark plugs with nitrous.

For a reliable daily driver, I won't go more than 400whp on a DSM. If you have a spare engine and a spare car to get around, sure that number could be pushed higher.

I want to run about 22psi on c16 racefuelwith the 55 shot, as for the 600hp on stock internals I believe it my friend Jason is running low 11s with 30psi on a completely stock 6bolt without it ever being rebuilt.

Yea, it seems that the people who doubt, obviously has not owned one. With about 600WHP, you're not gonna floor it all the time. It's too expensive. Why not just try 110 octane @ 22psi first?

It is not about doubting it. It is about having a reliable car. If I run 480whp and it throws a rod, it is not reliable, is it? How am I supposed to go to work if my car has a blown head gasket? That's my point. It has been done, as I said earlier, to have a DAILY DRIVER RELIABLE CAR, I wouldn't push more than 400whp. It also depends on the condition of the car, maintenance done on the car and tuning done on the car.

If he wants turbo + nitrous, let him try turbo and nitrous. Hell why not get a 60 trim? or a FP 3065? Because he doesn't want too. Jeez.

I always hear my buddy or my friend is running xxxhp. There is never an actual person to back it up. If you think I am wrong, feel free to post some dyno sheets and mod lists for these 600whp stock block 4g63 engines.

Stock block w/ MML HG and ARP studs. You're right....i don't own a 600WHP DSM. I don't even own a DSM. I do agree with you that maintenance is pretty hardcore for those cars though. Two 35Rs and a 70-trim. They now have upgraded valvetrains on all of them and the 70-trim is completely built to boost 40 lbs. Too fast that the fuel pump goes dry on anything 7 gallons or less in the fuel tank. I'm sure you've seen the white EVO II. Before it hit nines it was stock internals. peace.

Sorry for not being specific, I am talking about 4g63 engines in 1G or 2G DSMs, not EVOs. Technically, the EVO VIII has a 4g63 engine and people have made 400whp on those with barely any mods.

Why on earth would you use nitrous to spool a turbo that's at full song by 3300-3400 RPM anyway? That just makes no sense.

Well said! Some people can get away with a bit more, but how "reliable" is it after that? Not very.

well I was trying to make a good driver thats why I bought a 16g not a 20g or bigger, but I figured just running like 15psi daily and only nitrous and big boost at the track to get a good run, i wasn't talking about using it for spooling it, just wanted to make a little extra hp

Nearly the same limits. Sorry to jack up your thread, Slow DSM.

I think it would be a good idea to not start a discussion to compare DSM 4g63 engines to EVO VIII 4g63 engines in here. ;)

If you are running a large turbo that takes forever to spool, nitrous is the quiskest way to get it to spool. That is more of a racing thing though, not a street thing.
