Do you guys have the pots mod too??

Just bought 95 tsi awd w/ 6bolt and just got done replacing the hg in it. So I was driving around and I noticed behind the panel by your right foot theres a pot(potemiter sp?) wired up. On my old car (zx2) we had this mod that if you put a certain amout of resistance to the water temp sensor you can advance timing. So I was just wondering whats this for?

Sounds like it could be the potentiometer many people use in order to aviod the random misfire code the ecu gets from the 6-bolt swap. I dont know all the details, someone else can inform you...

the pot mod is to attempt to trick the ECU via the barometric pressure sensor to keep from geting a random misfire cel. Its a dangerouse mod to do w/o tunning knowladge. You can indirectly lean the car out and cause probs. not to mention the mod on my car, didnt work for $hit.

Ok then what do I do w/ it? I think its crank all the way off but I"m not sure. Yea its by my right foot.
