Do these nipples have to be connected?

The guy that owned the car before me didn't connect the nipples on the tb to anything. I know they are for emmission but do they need to be connected? If so, which one goes where? And also, might these be causing a leak if they're not connected?

It looks like the ones off the throttlebody are capped. If so, you should be fine. The other two I'm not sure about.

I've seen that diagram but I don't quiet understand it. Where is the tb supposed to be? Which hose goes onto which nipple? I don't understand it

Those nipples were originally for vacuum lines leading to emissions control devices. It appears as though whoever had your car previously removed all of the emissions equipment. Unless you live in area where automobiles are regularly tested for emissions, you should be fine - there won't be any adverse effects on performance.

For the record, this is where those three nipples are located in the diagram.

I'm not familar with the two uncapped nipples shown in your picture. But the easiest way to tell is just to start the car, and feel if they are sucking in air. Or, just cap them for the hell of it, and call it a day. Just use a piece of vacuum hose stick one end on each of the nipples. Of course they can leak, just make sure the caps are on tight.

The two uncapped nipples I think is a 2G specific thing but I think they only lead to emissions stuff AKA leave them uncapped. The only port the the TB that I use is the "P" port for my boost gauge. It will give you both a boost and a vacuum signal. If not using a gauge keep it capped off.
