Do the turbo DSMs share the same tranny as the 3000GT NA?

I thought I read a few places that the NA 3000GT and DSMs share the same FWD transmissions, can anyone confirm that?

Reason for asking is that a friend with a 1991 3000GT just had his tranny grenade on him and we were looking for budget replacements. Could this directly swap over or do you need the gears out of the old trans? Thanks.

Well I know for a fact that the VR4 trans is a Getrag unit which is listed as non-servicable by Mitsu. I'm not too sure about the NA ones but it's possible. Like L2R said check out 3si.org, maybe they know.

Yes, they are the same with the exception of the engine side tranny case. You'll need to split your old tranny and the DSM tranny and install the 3000gt case (engine side with block bolt pattern) on the DSM tranny.

I don't have my manual infront of me, as I'm out on vacation, but it is listed in the mitsubishi transmission manual as the same model.
