Do I need a new wastegate actuator?

I purchased this evo3 16g here on the classifieds. I got the turbo today and noticed that the wastegate flapper was not closing all the way. I removed the actuator arm from the turbine housing and closed the flapper manually and ended up getting what you see in the last picture. The hole in the actuator rod doesnt line up with the flapper arm closed all the way. It will only line up if the flapper is slightly open but I guess that will cause a lot of turbo lag. Is there anything I can do to the actuator to make it line up or do I need a new actuator. Will an actuator from a 14b work here? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

that wastegate is pretty much shot.. you can try to push it back in, but i doubt that would work.

Not sure if the 14B will work, but for what its worth I'd recommend getting a new one.

p.s., GO CINGULAR!!! [haha I'm here at work at a Cingular company store right now :D ]

I'm going to search around see if I can find something. Any idea who sells them new besides the dealership?

It's actually more like 7 to 10 washers. But even if I wanted to do that, the flapper would close all the way but it probably wouldn't open completely.

Burnett03, if I did it correctly, you should have pm.

Exactly what I was going to say. :thumb: Anyway, both 14b and 16g family uses the same actuator.
