Do I have 22 or 23 spline transmission?

Well i need a new tranny extrmeley bad but while searching for one I've found there are 1g's with 22 and 1g's with 23 spline trannies. I have a 92 Laser awd that was made in November of 91(which makes it early 92...some difference right?) if anybody can help me out I'd appreciate it. All 6 of my gears grind...

I believe that it is a 23 spline after 1990. Have you checked your clutch master cylinder and the slave sylinder sounds more like your problem.

Pull the t-case and count. MMC liked to do things w/o any organization. You might have either of them...

Could you explain that a little more? Is that an easy or inexpensive fix? Why would either of those make the gears grind and not be the trannies fault??

only 90's came with 22 spline count 91 and up are 23

You have to check and see if they are leaking fluid. My friends Camry was doing the same thing and it was his slave cylinder leaking fluid out so it didn't have enough pressure to push the shift fork/lever in all the way and it would grind when you tried to put it in any of the gears. Does your clutch pedal feel softer than it use to? I'm just trying to give you some ideas before you go and buy a new tranny.

I used to notice a difference with clutch pressure but haven't latley, or I just got used to it....but it seems to only do it when the tranny gets really hot...or after driving for like half hour -45 mins or so. I will check these as soon as I can...thanks.
