I was looking around for coating options for my tubular manifold. It looks all ashy and dull now that it has been used for a few thousand mi. I also just got my hood repainted and don't want to wreck anything. So I want heat temps down as I am using a na heat sheild under the hood.
Since I love doing things myself. I was wondering if anyone has used this stuff Here scroll down to the "Turbo X" It looks like it would work well I would just have to pick up a cheepo airbrush for like $10-$15 on harbor freight. I have a sand blaster at work so prep would be easey. If it turns out well I would do my turbo housing and maybe my dp too.
I also have hurd of people using piston coatings from a local speed shop. What do you guys think?

I don't have experience with Tech Line coating, but I reccommend you using Rust-oleum 2000 degree ceramic paint, coated my FP manifold, hotside, tubular o2 housing with excellent results & it cost only $7 a can

I just thaught that it would flake off after a while. I guess its all in the prep work? How does that reduce the heat under the hood?

I'm dragging this one up so i don't start a new thread. Techline stopped selling ceramic coating to individuals, only dealers can order it. Talked to a local machinist who kind of owes me for screwing up my build way back. He agreed to order a can of Turbo-X. I have access to a good paint booth and all the equipment including an oven. Going to spray my new FP mani, FP black turbine housing, and PR o2 housing.

Anyone done this at home? I've seen videos of techline coating being applied and it requires nothing special at all. Cost for the 8oz can is probably gonna be around $60 or $70, not sure.
That's a lot better than paying shipping both ways, $250 to $300, and waiting 2 weeks or more. I would do it locally but the closest place is 120 mile round trip for me and it's not something i can schedule. It's a 5 day turnaround. That's just dumb. STill would cost $225 at the closest place.

So, looking to see how people like their techline coating and how long it's lasted. If you did it DIY style then chime in.

Within a few weeks i'll update my long lost build thread and i'll snap some pics of the DIY coating. Since everything i'm working with is brand new i don't think i need to blast it, just acetone and make sure everything is super clean, zero grease.
