2G DIY engine harness pointers

Hey everyone hope you're having a good one. I've been thinking of completely building a new engine harness from scratch. This isn't my first rodeo with wiring but i want to do this harness once. And Nothing crazy, just like a oem with added in sd. As you all know these harnesses are getting old and brittle. I don't want to deal with future wiring problems if i can help it haha. So I found the connector kit and wire/loom. But just wanted others input on how they did it, what brand of crimpers and maybe what you would have done differently.

Label everything and use heat resistant wire loom.

I have definitely seen some build threads here and there showing their process but I don't think the build threads are searchable like that?
