1G Distributor?

I was talking to this guy from work who just bought a '93 2.0 n/a. He said he wasn't getting any spark and he thinks it's the something with the distributor.
Eh? Did you say distributor?

He said he took it apart and it had a little disc with holes in it and this piece seemed to have something wrong with it.

I thought all of our 4g63s were electronic ignition. I didn't go into it because he seemed like he was certain what he was talking about and the last break of the day was over. I forgot to ask him more about it but it's kinda making me wonder.

Do some of these have distributors or was he talking about the CAS?

No 4g63s ever had distributors. I guess I could maybe see somebody thinking a CAS was a distributor even though it clearly has no spark plug wires attached

Are you sure its a 2.0L NA?, a 1.8L NA would have a distributor.

Yeap. The 4g37 had a distributor.
