Different Trans Gear Ratio's

Hey guys i had a 23 spline trans and trasfer case in my car. I believe that means that its from a new model. Mine is a 1991. I just put in a 22 spline trans and trasfer case. I believe that means it has different gear ratio's is what i found out. I took it to a trans shop and he said that my trasmission gears are different and they dont match up with my rear end. So any idea on how i would go about finding out which rear diff. is for my trans?

What did the transmission come out of? Unless it's from an auto, or a Galant GSX or a JDM Galant RS Evolution the differential gear ratios are going to be the same.
