Difference between JDM and USDM engines 95-99

ok so i'm looking to find out the differences in engines (as well as turbo's, hp figures, etc) between the jdm and usdm eclipse (i assume japan has no talons)...


anyone know the differences off hand? or know a good site to find out about the JDM ones?

There are no JDM eclipses.

Exported 2gs (JDM, EDM) non-turbo came with the 4g63, not the 420A.

we started working with some of the JDM motors in some 1g and 2g's. Most are just a standard 6bolt using a 14b, some 16g's. puttin one into a 2g just requires the normal work for a 7 to 6 bolt swap.

You were given the specifics in another thread you have already asked in.


You got a different...
Turbo (evo16g or big16g)
You got yellow top 510 injectors

If your intake manifold says CYCLONE then I can explain those but you said it dosen't so those are the same. So the only main differences you have that are anything significant that I can think of offhand is those two things.


Did you not ask this to the company you purchased the engine from?

No Eclipses were ever made in Japan. The only thing is the 4g63 motor which is in the Japanese Evo's and their galant's.

so i heard that there are no jdm eclipses... is this true?

I bought a JDM engine for my 96 gsx and the motor i got was supposedly for the 95-99 eclipse here (obd II from what they said) but i'm wondering what motor i got and from what car - i've maybe a galant or an evo (it has the yellow top injectors and a big 16g turbo from what i've read).

Anyone know what cars these swaps commonly come out of in Japan?

Also the main reason for asking is i'm planning on putting that turbo on my eclipse (I think the 2g adapter kit will work, but i don't know ) and i'm wondering what sort of hp and torque came stock on the jdm engines like these. Anyone know a good website with info on the jdm engine specs?

also, don't usdm 4g63t's come with around 200hp stock?

All you need to do is look up the stats and info on the evo 1-3 and the Galant VR-4 RS and you will have all of the engine answers you need.

These are both outstanding cars and you should consider yourself lucky you got this engine. They don't always come with the yellow tops and B16G's.

Is the engine a 6bolt or 7bolt? Could some one have put the JDM turbo and injectors on a USDM engine and then sold it as JDM?

it is a 7 bolt (i think).

and no it is indeed jdm because we had to swap EVERYTHING (pumps, water pipe, brackets etc) to make it work...
