So... I've owned my car for almost 2 years now, and it's always had some sort of boost leak. I was never able to fix all of them...until the other day I heard a small whistle by the injectors when doing a test. Injector insulators were leaking at any PSI, and I couldn't build more than 5psi using a little compresser  . Ordered them at my local Dodge dealer for less than 10 bucks, and they arrived in under 24hrs.

The install looked pretty straight forward, so being a guy, I didn't use a shop manual or even read about it on 'tuners. Everything went perfectly smooth, until I went to put back in the fuel rail spacers. Dropped one twice onto the intake mani, but it never fell. I must have forgot to knock on wood, because the third time it dissapeared into neverland.

I had no ####ing idea where it went. There's like a blackhole in my engine or something. After spending nearly two hours looking all around and even under the car, I started blindly poking around with a coat hanger....and it appeared outta no where. Somehow it dropped into a little cave underneath the number 1 and 2 runners. It took about 20minutes, but I squeezed my tiny hand in there and got it out.

So yeah, that was my big achievement of the day. I spent two hours searching for a ####ing $5 plastic spacer. Go me.

Car runs great now, btw. 15 in/hg cruising at 60mph compared to 10 beforehand. Lowend daily driving power is much better. Turbo spools up quicker between shifts. BOV reacts quicker. :dsm:

Nice work! I usually don't have TOO much trouble finding dropped stuff. Although the worst drop I ever had was a valve cover bolt into the spark plug well (after I had removed the plugs). I looked for something sharp to end my life with.

I once dropped a hex key into the engine bay someplace on my 89 Buick Century.. couldn't find it for the life of me... went, closed the hood, drove off on my way... about 2 miles down the road one of my belts found it and shit it up into my hood...

I miss that car... that thing could mow down mail boxes like no bodies business....

Next time, get some 3m weatherstrip adhesive and glue the spacers to the head. It has saved me lots of time and headache.

Ps, dont glue them to the fuel rail or it will be a pain to reinstall with the injectors attached.

I've lost like 4 10mm wrenches in the engine bay.. they usually fall out while I'm driving around.

RTV gasket sealent also works good for sticking those suckers in their place.

Only thing I've lost so far is a 10mm socket. I lost it while trying to get the bottom bolt off my headlights. I assume it fell out while I was driving around.

Oh...I've been meaning to ask you about your FMIC...

I'm thinking about doing a custom one like yours. What core did you use? What pipes did you need to buy? And who cut/welded/beaded everything? Thanks :)

Same here...

They don't always fall out. I was putting in my Buschur front mount the other day and found a pair of pliers, a screwdriver, and 2 rusty ass sockets. The sad part is, none of the stuff is mine so it's been sitting in there for a little over a year. :D

i lost a 10mm socket taking out that stupid bolt under the headlight too WTF

I lost so many things in my engine, I'm amazed there isn't a pile yet. I find a little magnet from the autoparts store does a good job picking them up.

i superglue mien to my fuel rails. easy fix to not droppign them to have to find them

The best solution I have found is to use throttle body studs for the fuel rail. Screw in the studs and stack the parts over them. Makes alignment a breeze.

I lost one of the screws that holds the valve cover on one time. Could NOT find it anywhere. Well about 5-6 months later i had my valve cover powercoated and some how some way, keep in mind nothing broke, that bolt i was missing was sitting in my head WTF . I have never lost soooooooo many parts/tools on any other car i've owned. DSM's really are a self contained black hole!
