a week ago one of my friends told me that if i remove the honeycome looking thing in my intake system(mas), my car would get better airflow. well, i did that, but did i do something wrong cause my car doesn't idle like it usually does. is it because of the missing honeycomb... the car still runs great, but the car sounds like its going to die when it idles.........

put the comb back in and see what happens. if it idles better leave the dam thing alone, if it idles shitty still its another problem.

i think i took out the wrong honeycomb........ i guess i was suppose to take out the lower honeycomb, but removed the main one(big one)........... anyone knows how to deal with this........

If you've destroyed the honeycomb, you can find a 1g maf on dsmtrader.com for about $10-$15.

that solution is not going to work because i threw them both away................ does taking out the big honeycomb affect performance????????? if it doesn't then i guess it's alright.........

ya the mass can't measure the air right if it doesn't hit the sensor straight on. Goto a junkyard and get one or buy a new mas off dsmtrader. If you're going to get a new mas might as well get a 2g and mod it to work they flow better.

let this be a lesson, DO NOT throw old parts away. get a nice tote and store them, cause you never know when theyll come in handy.

If you purchase a new MAF, I wouldn't remove either of the honeycombs unless I had an SAFC or other form of fuel management. Take the silencer out, back out the screw, but refrain from removing the lower honeycomb until then. Reason being is because there is a good chance you can run lean. Maybe if you were experiencing fuel cut, then I'd say go for it. But if not, play it safe. No logger, no SAFC, and you wont know until its too late.
