I was wondering if the stock 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipe's came stock with a JVC multiple cd changer?

My 96 has one, in the trunk, passenger side, doesn't look aftermarket. I couldn't personally say for sure though. Also not sure if mine is JVC or not. Dont really pay much attention to it since it doesn't work.

Yea, I have one in the same spot too. The only thing that leads me to believe mines after market is the hole drilled in the interior parts to run the remote for it, but i just got the car and it doesnt work anyways so i wanted to know if I would be removing weight from from the stock weight or if it was weight that was added that im now just removing.

Do you have a picture? I know my iriend had a six cd changer in the trunk, and the stock headunit up front but i'm not sure if it was a JVC or not. all i remember is that it was grey (might have been grey to match the interior), and had orange backlights. If that resembles yours, then yes it is stock.

I do believe they are an Infinity unit, as are the option sound system components in the gst's/gsxs. My 99 had the changer, amp, and infinity headunit/speakers. All are infinity if i rememeber correctly.

I believe the CD changer was an option. It looked like this

You can tell because of the disc "up" "down" on the "tune seek" button. You could have the cassette/cd in the din without or with the 10cd changer.

I also have a stock one. Its in the trunk on the passenger side. It works but I never use it. Cassette adapter ftw!

Glad to see I'm not the only one still making use of the cassette player :D

The CD changer is a premium option, I own a 1998 GS with no CD changer, and a 1997 GSX with infinity audio and no CD changer. The CD changer is most likely an added piece by a previous owner (if your car had one) perhaps due to it being a "jvc".

They came from the factory with a disc changer, the one above looks like the stock one.

Hahah yeah I know, but I'm saying that it may have been added because I doubt "jvc" was stock?
:hmm:
