I've read quite a lot of boost leak testing threads and I've read the tech article on the topic and have consulted vfaqs as well ... but I still need help.

I'm trying to test my intake for leaks and I've made the tester. I've removed the air can and have hooked up the tester to the turbo inlet but it doesn't build pressure at all. I'm using a bicycle pump to presurize the intake.

I'm stuck at a friends place and I need to get this done tonight ... please help!

ok ... so I replaced the BISS o-ring and fixed the leak. Also I found where the unplugged vacume hose goes ... it was one of the emissions line. Thanks to Taboo's diagrams :thumb:

I finally got the air tank as well ... so I did the leak test again today... and its still leaking :|

the leak is kinda big because the system isn't holding any air. I'm not sure where the leak is. Its somwhere on the driver's side ... under the Intake manifold. Light was low so I just tried to feel where it was coming from and it seemed to be somwhere below the coil pack ... slightly above the AC compressor. somwhere around the thick metal brackets that are in that area. Any suggestions where it could be leaking from? or what I should check?

Thanks!

if it's coming from over there its either an intake manifold gasket, valves open, or your pcv valve is bad so it sounds like it's coming from there. Turn the crank like 1/2 a turn and then try again. If it doesn't help then disconnect your pcv and block it off on the intake mani. Then try again. My car sounded like it was leaking from underneath the intake manifold too and then I found it it was just a bad pcv valve.

I'm guessing the intake manifold gasket, does it sound like an outside leak? Open the oil cap and see if you can hear hissing in the crank case. How many psi can it hold now? for how long? Did you get the leak at the turbo resolved yet?

I will try that tomorrow morning. Yes it seems to be an external leak because I can feel the aik leaking in that area quite a lot. Its not holding air at all. I took it upto 17 psi and as soon as I remove the air pipe ... its all leaks out in like 4-5 seconds. Although the car drives and boosts just fine.

The leak around the turbo area was because of the j-pipe ... the was slightly bent, so I replaced it with a new Dejon Tool pipe and its all good now.

I will do the test again so that I can find out the exact place where its leaking from. I'll try to post some pictures too.
