true, im just going to stick w/ what they got and go w/ the that downpipe and the exhaust.

doesnt it look like in the pic that if the alternator would do out, it would be a bi*** to change it?:p
i personally have not heard how loud this exhaust is, but while looking at my exhaust it would seem to me that the muffler is by far the heaviest part of the whole thing. so getting the second muffler adds a lot of weight. if your not worried about sound, skip out on the second muffler, as it will be cheaper, better performing, and lighter.

honestly i don't think it's that loud. but im inside the car and havn't driven with the windows down yet. but i do pretty much have my trusk stripped for weight. all thats left are the interior plastic panels.

i don't really think the exhaust was that heavy. the muffler is the heaviest yes, but i think as a whole, the style of muffler keeps the weight down a lot.

Well the shipping weight on the exhasut with packaging and bolts/misc. was only 40 lbs. I guess thats not tooo heavy. Its definetly not stainless but it works. I only have one muffler though and the muffler is at least another 7-8 lbs so it does add some weight. I drove the car w/ the windows down around my neighborhood and damn. Like I said around 2-3.5k it is LOUD. It sounds deep though and its not a ricer noise.

BTW 2-3/4 is good for the first part of the exhaust. RRE has some good info on the reason why. http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclexhaust.htm

Check there and look at RRE's dp's it explains why its not bad to have 2-3/4 or 2-1/2 on the first bend. :thumb:

F-YEAH DUDE. That looks awesome on a 1ga. I will definately see if i can get them to raise up those hangers a little, if i get eibachs and agx's like i want i don't wanna risk ever bashing it up.

so i take it you like my paper weight....

Haha, yeah i do. you gotta let me know how that thing runs once you get it well. . . running again.

im anxious to know what thats gonna do.

fyi- i think you've become my new dejon exhaust buddy, haha. we're the only couple who actually have it who post.

Damn now my feelings are hurt....haha

you're in it too man, LOL. don't worry. you still liking yours? i like mine more each day, and hopefully once i get my dejon uicp and intake on and the rest of my mod "pile" on shell be sitting pretty and purring.

i should snap a pic of this pile of boxes i've got, it's as tall as a full floor speaker. ill get one later, right now the bar is calling my name.

anyone else who's picked this up besides my 2 buddies let me know what you think. (and tstkl, i wanna know how that car does once you get her running again).

update on my dream machine:

just installed a silicon lined paper gasket for the intake manifold, used all the bolts except the demon bolt. started the car,... no go. ok it did this before when there was a leak, lets try again with my foot to the floor. there we go, now lets just keep it, ahhhh.... the tach kept dropping too fast for my likings and i gave it gas again and again. didnt look to good. i turned her off and got out (never tried to let it idle as i just assumed it wouldnt. look whos the ass now) my new dejon exhaust was smoking. looking at the log, i noticed its still running lean, no surprise. added a few clicks to see what it would do and tried again. this time i just started with the clutch and gas in. this happened a few more times, me being an idiot and not seeing if it would idle or not and adding fuel due to the decreasing smoke coming out of my exhaust. got some pics with my cell but i dunno how to put them on my computer since i dont have bluetooth. finally i called paul and asked him what i should do next. he suggested trying brake cleaner since he doesnt see how it could possibly be running at -10 hg/in at around idle. (thats what it was and still is running at. btw in addition to adding fuel, i was also tightening the bolts a little each time, dont want any new demon bolts, but was hoping that would work.)

tried the brake cleaner and guess what? a few times it would go up like 50-100 rpms. most of the time it did nothing. thats with me spraying in the same spot. so i follow pauls advice and check the manifold. apparently when he bought a smim one of the welds was cracked and they had to get it rewelded. interesting side note, i can hear a HUGE leak, but cant tell where its coming from, THANKS TO MY LOUD AS HELL DEJON EXHAUST. so i get my pocketlogger and put it on the wind sheild, as far as it can go. then i start spraying. the o2 reading is at .01. the rpm is at about 750-900, up and down. i start spraying. every time i spray by the demon bolt, guess what happens. the rpms stay the same (well they change a little, but they do even if i dont spray, its a negligable amount.) but the o2 climbs. whaaa?!??!?!?!?! maybe it is the demon bolt.... maybe its not? she idles at -10 hg/in.... should i try and drive her the 30ish miles to paul to let him fix it? i want to, but im scared. anyone who lives in the east bay want to follow me so i dont have to worry so much. preferably with a truck of some kind and a tow hitch. maybe even a trailer....

btw this will be a thread in the problem diagnostic thread in the newbie section.

haha, I can't stop laughing at how you use the Demon Bolt in talking about your problems like it is something everyone should know about.

Anyhow, you say you have a leak... how about doing a boost leak? www.boostpro.net has a nice setup with a gauge built in for about $20... I got one and it works wonderfully.

the evo dp has a different angle on the flange, because the evo o2 is angled a little different.

and honestly, unless you've got some nice porting on your o2 or have an external wastegate a 3" dp can cause some crappy boost creep.

the 2.5-3" is more than sufficent for most people.

but yeah, be wary about the evo dp because it will not mate to a 1st or 2nd gen o2.

Wait, are you trying to say that a 3" DP can cause Boost creep:nono: ?? Boost creep is caused by not having enough exhaust flow exitiing the turbo into the exhaust. A 3" DP allows nearly twice the exhaust flow that the stock DP. Porting the wastegate flapper and adding a larger exhaust is the best ways to eliminate boost creep not cause it.

look into it man. most people who get straight 3" exhaust complain about boost creep. i'v read it a lot on here. look into that maybe. regardless people who get big dp's usually have small o2's and wg's, which makes problems when you add a big dp.

have a good night, and maybe add something to the post next time, instead of ripping people.

Well said.

the reason why big exhausts cause boost creep is because there is less resistance through the turbine than there is through the wastegate. the wastegate will open, but since it is at a 90 degree angle with the turbine housing in the case of the stock housing, the exhaust continues its forward passage until enough back pressure is built up for the need for the wastegate passage. a big dp will create boost creep. porting the wastegate part of your turbine housing will cure that

Can you hear your turbo whistling throught your exhaust while you're idling with this setup? I currently have a Borla muffler and was interested in just buying the piping from Dave and welding it to my current muffler to replace my $hitty press-bent catback.

What is the wall thickness on the piping?

I have no idea about wall thickness, but it's real nice thick pipe. And no, i havn't noticed the turbo at idle, i'm also Auto though. I dunno if that would matter.

I just made a post about my exhaust today actually, with pics.

Post #7. The only thing i still wanna do is replace the fat tip and can with a nice duel outlet magnaflow.

Oh and Dejon now offers the exhaust with adjustable hangers. Just thought Id follow up on it.

Ain't that some shit. I colaborated on the 1gb exhaust with Dave for quite a while, but i don't get adjustable hangers. Mine still hangs. . . I'm not saying i expect anything from it, it just would have been nice if he had helped me get mine looking good too.

Anyway, the dejon is definitely a good option then. I'm also glad to hear Dave at least took into consideration fixing that.
