After replacing cases for the 2 way responder remote and having a plastic case crack on the "new style" remote, I hung my 2 way remote on the wall and started looking for a different kind of remote.
This remote is made for the Merlin 3000 a waterproof motorcycle alarm. I bought it hoping that it would with my alarm since it is also compatible with all Directed 434 Mhz systems with 2/66 codes.
I have a Viper 5002 alarm and it worked!
You will have to check your owner's manual for the DEI alarm you have to see if you have a 434 Mhz system. It retails for $45 (Merlin 482T In-Key Replacement Remote) but a guy sells it on eBay for $10 with $5 shipping from Kissimmee, Florida.
You will have to get a spare metal key, cut it, leaving an extra 9/32 on top, drill a 1/8" hole in the middle and then mount the key with the included screw.
You will also have to manually program the keys on the remote since the "auto learn" feature on your remote/alarm will not work to program the one button arm/disarm. The button with the * on the back is the panic button.
It takes a 27A or A27 battery which is hard the find, but you should be able to locate one at Radioshack or buy one online.
I have posted some pics with comparison to other remotes. I took it to my local car audio shop and one of the owners was amazed that it works.
