datalogger problems

im having problems with the logger i just got. i plug everything in and i cant get it to log anything. i tried starting the car first and then plugin the cable in and that didnt work either. im runnin mmcd. i tried to sync the car with the palm and that didnt work either. it tells me that im tryin to connect to a modem. anyone know whats goin on with this thing?? Also does anyone know which color the wire is supposed to b in the bottom left of the odb1 connector. i had to pull the top right and the bottom left out and i dont remember which on goes where? i hooked the logger up both ways though and still nothing.

Although Im no guru I do know that the two wires that you switched are opposite polarities. The one pin on the plug that stands alone to the far right (in the car), is the data signal output. And the other is a ground. I know from my stereo install experiences that when you reverse polarities you screw something up. If I were you I would find someone elses 1g and try datalogging that car to see if youre equipment functions properly before returning it
