I have been looking around and havent really found the information i want. I am looking into getting a data/pocket logger for christmas. I was wondering what else is needed besides the datalogger stuff to tune my car? do i need the dsm translator with gm mas will i need any gauges like a/f ir will they be tottaly point less if i have a datalogger. all you help will greatly be appreciated i am just trying to get into the world of tuning. all my mods are listed in my profile i may be getting a header and or nitrous wet kit for x-mas also if the parents will pay up LOL. :laser:

I'm not sure what you really need to tune. Don't bother with an A/F gauge since the logger has an O2 readout on it. I'd suggest a Pyrometer if you're going to put a nitrous setup in. I'd say just get a S-AFC or one of the older 5 knob ones to modify your map signals. A set of cam gears might be beneficial as well. Obviously the GM MAF works wonders for a NT, So i'd get that and a translator for more power, not necessarily tuning.

-Why do you just have the HKS intake cam?

so do you think i should get a datalogger or not im not even totally sure what it does i couldnt find much on them and what i did was people asking what one to get so if you know of any link that could help me out with that it would be great. I am most likely getting the dsm translator and gm mas and i do have cam gears i just need to take my car to the dyno to get them adjusted. thats for all your help and the help to come. :laser:

Pocketlogger Site

I use a Digital Tuning Inc. pocketlogger. That website will give you all the information you need. It's invaluable for tuning DSM's, and for simply diagnosing CEL's and what not. I got the cable and software through them, and bought a Palm IIIc off of E-bay for about 80 bucks. It's definitely a great tool to have. I would say get a pocketlogger before investing a ton in tuning equipment. That way you can make sure you're progressing instead of taking steps backwards with mods.
