going to pick these up tonite. but have a concern i wasnt sure about. the offset on these is 47mm

18x7.5 wheels with a 47mm offset

will they be alright for my 96 gsx? which is basically stock right now?

im getting them for $350 soo if they dont work then i'll sell them to someone else who wants them.

thanks for the input

thanks i will i still got some time before i get the money to decide on tires also. the wheels are said to be 47mm offset but im almost certain they are not. how can i go about with the wheel to check the offset??? also im not lowered yet! ha. so rubbing should really be a big deal when im on stock height should it?

again its just the wheels im getting. tires will come later on.

When your lowered rubbing only happens on the fender, when you run a lower offset like +30. If you run a higher offset like +47 then your going to be rubbing on your upper control arm. I use +40 as a starting point for 18's. Less then +40 your going to face rubbing on the fender, more then +40 you'll be worrying about rubbing on the control arm.
You can of course try a shorter tire like a 35 or 30.

No. Don't do that. With 225/45/17's the wheels could fit. It will be very close and you will not be able to go any wider than 225's, but they are a good size for a 7.5 width wheel. It is so close it may come down to your choice in tires though.

With that high an offset and 225 width tires the onlyl place you need to worry about clearance is at the rear steering knuckle.

Flash, what do you call close? Have you measured the clearance? I'll bet you have around 6-10mm with 225/45/17's on a +42 offset. Check it if you have a chance. I'm always looking for more data points to improve my estimates.

the wheels are stamped on the back with 18x8.... +45mm offset also.

what size tire should i be looking into getting. thanks again

i mounted the wheels on the car with it in the air. since i have no tires obviously i couldnt set the car down to see the actual fitment.

im sure they will probably rub some but i'd like some help on tires anyway just to see if at all possible they will fit. plus i kno i can get a discount someplace on tires for the wheels. so if they dont fit to good i can sell them with the tires. thanks

Thanks for not telling me you tried 225/45/17's and couldn't get them on.:coy:

225/40/18's are what you want.

I thought he was talking about 18's. I have 18x7.5 with a +42 and 225/40/18 tires and I'm so close to rubbing. If my finger was half the size, I could fit it in the space. But then again maybe that is plenty of room to you? All how we define it. ;)

If you're worried about rubbing control arms, run a spacer. It reduces your effective offset.

probably going to run 235/40/18 kumho pst tires for summer time and then put my stock swirlies on for winter use.

ordered tires last night from discount tire center 235/40/18 kumho escta spt's.. i'll put them on and see how the fitment is, more than likely will get the fenders rolled though just to be safe i dont rub.

235/40/18 on a +45 offset on a 2G? If so, then rubbing the fender will be the least of your problems. Rather, I'd say you'll be in the market for spacers quite soon.

I don't know. My model shows 2-3mm clearance. Too close to call, really. If you are able to fit them on at all, please measure and post the gap between the knuckle and the tire. Use a drill bit or something, not a half finger.

I run a 43 offset on my 18x7.5 on a 225/40 and you could fit a finger in there, so I am in the process of upgrading to 235/40

Right now on my shit rims I am running 16x8 with 225/55 tires.. 300gt sl rims. I dont know the offset, but goddamn you can barely fit a key between the tire and the side of the knuckle, there is plenty of room for the top of the knuckle

PS- I run intrax springs..dont know how low their supposed to be.

yeah im stock height for now, but a good friend jerry is running 18x8 wheels 235/40 tires, koni red/ eibach sportlines on his gsx 2g and has the fenders rolled and is good to go..

i'll post when i get them put on and let everyone know what the outcome is

ahhh.. guess not LOL. i was talking more from the top left of the tire in your pic

So let me get this straight, a +45 offset on a 18x7.5 wheel wearing a 225/40 tire will fit with no problems?

i just put my wheels/tires on a few minutes ago

18x8 HP EVO gunmetal wrapped with Kumho escta* SPT 235/40/18 tires. . .
