420A Crank signal wire on MS3

I got a 99 Eclipse GS 420a trying to tap into my crank sensor with MS3 for piggy pack to get a rpm signal. I see the shielded wire would I use jus that black wire for ground and the 6v ref for the signal wire I'm not totally sure on this sense ms on setting up on a 420a is on db37 bored which I don't not have the ms3x
