crank questions

hey guys, just got a couple quick questions that i know someone can help with. ok i have a 97 gsx that i just had to pull apart for the 3rd time , now because of a faulty thrust bearing. the bearing ate up my crank so now im on the search for a stock 7 bolt crank. but im not sure if there is a difference in any of the 7 bolt cranks like from 95 or 96 than the crank that is in my 97. the block is a mid 97 with the newer design thrust bearings. the block that is in the car now is actually out of a 95 turbo. but im jujst gonna use my old block from the 97. long story but i had to switch em up. so anyways is anyone knows if there is a difference or where i can find astock crank it would be appreciated. thanks guys.

Why are you guys slill messing with 7 bolt blocks. Go with a 6 bolt and be done with it.

I do know this with 7 bolts(95-99). The cranks are all the same but, with a 95-97 block the thrust bearing is differant that 98-99. In 95-97 the thrust bearing is all one piece, in 98-99 the bearing is the center section and then the sides slide in. So the blocks are a little differant. As for the cranks, just the bearings.

Yeah it is fairly easy and well worth the work. If you search around you can find all kinds of info. You could also check out Magnus Motor Sports. They have a pretty good write up on it.

thanks for the info guys. im not really sure yet what exactly im gonna do. i was actually planning on selling the car after this cuz its the 3rd time the motor had to come out and im probably gonna sell it. ill let ya know what i come up with. if there is anyone who happens to have a good 7 bolt crank laying around please let me know. thanks again
