We're working on a forging update as we speak. I don't know if you have your old set or not, but I'd like you to send them in for us to analyze. The cracks may be in the same place, but we'd like to verify that the pistons haven't seen any other issues. Sorry to hear that you went with Ross, I hope that anyone that has issues like this would call us at 800 321 1364 so we can make needed adjustments. Email me back and I'll get you the RMA info. Best Regards, Brian Nutter-Wiseco Piston

sorry to bring this thread back up, but my 2.3L stroker motor with weisco pistons did this same damn thing, ON ALL 4 OF THEM!!!! same spot as the picture above, 900 miles, go figure  . Not very pleased with these pistons at all. So I am going back to ross pistons due to this problem.

I think weisco needs to really look into this problem as I could not beleive my eyes when i seen this thread as my pistons did the same thing..

$500 down the drain, my stock pistons took more abuse then this!!

I know this is an older thread, but I seem to have experienced a similar issue -I also had my set of weisco stroker pistons (#K571M855) fail prematurely, with about 2300 miles on them... LOTS of wear on the intake side, next to the valve recess, as pictured above. -Seems like the pistons actually started to fall apart at the thinest part of the intake's valves recesses. From there, the debris became lodged inbetween the ring and ring land, eventually binding them up and caused serious blow-by in #3. After removing all of them, I noticed that ALL 4 of them all experienced the same wear on the intake side!

I'll post my pics up in a few hours...

I hope for your sake Brian that you guys have done more research from when this thread was actually written back in '04... Any ideas as to what would cause the intake valve recess walls to collapse on the outer side of the piston's diameter? - Nothing is wrong with any of the piston's exhaust side's valve recesses.
