couple issues... help anyone

hey guys got a few questions. i have a 1ga built bottom end, safc2, 3" gm maf and translater.

question one- every once in a while, usually under very light throttle, my car "hickups". not sure how to explain it better then that really anyone have/had a similar problem???

question 2- i have the gm maf and translater. i have evo8 560cc injectors. when i set up the translater i couldnt get the car to run worth a damn when set for 560's on the translater. but when i set it to the 570's setting it runs. problem? ok?

for question 1, have you checked to see if you had any boost leaks? may not show its face when your actually building boost but once your just cruising it may show up.

Cant help you with question 2 as I'm not using a maft

1. Check boost leaks, any oil leaks (oil by the plugs can cause shorting), I would assume you aren't hitting fuel cut, but just check around for anything suspicious. You need to report some more details (in boost/not in boost, rpm range, what kind of shuttering, etc). You'd be surprised at how helpful a basic description can be; we all have DSMs here and we will know what you're talking about.

2. MAFT's are very finicky. I highly suggest you pick up a wideband O2 sensor before you make any other adjustments. The 'base' adjustments on those boxes vary greatly depending on so many variables. What I'm saying is you should not take the manual's word for it; you need to do some runs with appropriate data logging equipment to determine what the best setting is for you.

Ideally, you should get DSM Link and do all the tuning through that. But you and I both know how DSMers budgets are

yeah i hear ya on the budget! would love to get dsmlink but gotta fix my bike first. crashed it. i know it blows.

ok umm it happens in the lower rpm range below 3k. how to describe it. umm its not a shutter. more like the car just cuts out for a quick second or like a small bog. i happened once in a blue. now it seems to happen a bit more frequently although not on a daily. kinda when it wants to. usually under 20% throttle. now that i think of it, it usually happens when im off the gas and then get back on it slightly.

and as far as the maf-t everything is set at 0 except for the injector sizing(obviously). i do have to perform a boost leak test. need to borrow a friends tester or make my own. not sure how hard that is.

also, since the cold weather set in, ive been gettin idle surge. the ics motor is fairly new about a year old. i know it could still be bad. also want to pull my ecu and check the board as ive heard the idle surge problem could be from the ecu going bad. dont know if this might be a part of it. all kind of does lean towards boost leak. really gotta get on that.

another quick note. it is about time i change plugs and the o2. the o2 warms up slower then it used to and the plugs are a bit over a year old. i usually change them every year irregardless of mileage. just have to get to it.

ok heres a lil update.

drivin home last night. car wasnt fully warmed up but wasnt cold. driving in 3rd coming up on 30mph probably at about 2200rpm and instead off a "hickup" i got a decent shudder. lasted all of about a second. i was going up a slight incline. again no more then 20% throttle. gas was a bit low but gas light wasnt on so i doubt that had any effect on it. then it was fine. a few blocks down i got it again but not the shudder just the "hickup" i described. noticed that my a/f gauge went full lean during the shudder. no other instances since then.

called a friend today and hes going to help me with a boost leak test some time this weak. i will let u know what i find if anything. untill then any input would be much apreciated. thanx all.
