I've been doing some researching, so I hope I haven't missed anything. I just want to clarify before I purchase my tire/wheel combo. I'd like to mod the car mainly for autox (STX class) with some street use.

I have a 99 GSX, and I'm planning on getting 245/40ZR17 Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec tires and 5zigen FN01R-C 17x8 wheels. I've also started looking at the Evo 8 brake upgrade. I realize I'll have to roll the rear flanges. I am at stock height right now. I'm not sure yet what suspension mods I'd go with, but I don't think I'll be dropping any more than 1-1.5".

So I'm torn between whether or not +43mm offset is the right choice or would +35mm be better? I think I'm mainly concerned if +43 would clear the Evo calipers.

Thanks for any advice.

Chris

Thanks for the advice, and the question of my manhood. :D 8" is the max width I can have and stay in STX. I did check out the 5zigen site before, and I could have sworn it said the +35mm cleared the Evo Brembos. Guess I was wrong. I'll keep checking for used Evo 8/9 wheels.

+35mm will clear brembo calipers. Ask me how I know, I wouldnt say go any more than +38 on 8-inch wide tires to clear.

Ya know...if ya do decide to go wider...ive got a set of recently powdercoated 17x9 +35 5zigen fno1rcs with used 255 toyo RA1s for sale....

Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to have to stick with the 17x8. Good to hear the 17x8 +35 will clear the Brembos. I really like those 5zigen wheels, and I wasn't looking forward to having to search for used Evo rims.

This thread (http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/fre...tions/286685-will-these-wheels-tires-fit.html) says there is only 2mm of fender clearance with 245/40-17 tires. Since they are nearly the same diameter as stock, would I only need to worry about fender rub when the car is lowered?

Thanks,
Chris
