I'm wondering why cop wiring shows to wire them in series? that way you are only going to get 6v to each coil, wouldn't it be better to have 12v to each coil in parallel? I dont want to burn anything up.

Kinda wondering the same thing mysef after seeing a tute on wiring them since the factory CP has 3 wires while sharing a common ground.

I know the thread is a month old...but:

I've asked about this before and the consensus (even from people who repair DSM ECUs) seems to be that wiring them in parallel is a great way to fry the Power Transistor Unit in a pretty rapid fashion.

COP doesn't work reliably unless it's used in conjunction with a CDI box: AEM TwinFire, MSD DIS-2, DynaTek ARC-2, etc. Running them just off of the PTU is also a good way to burn through PTUs. It may work fine for a bit, but once you take one of those Transistors past it's limit...it's gonna be on it's way out.

The exception to this would be running COP using coils with their own ignitors, so you could ditch the PTU. As far as what coils to use for that? I don't know...just yet.
