I am not able to put the top down on my 96 gst spyder. The motors are good. When i click the button to put the top down, all that happens is it clicks a few times and then stops... I have taken apart the back area and found the clicking to be coming from the convertible control module. It gets power going into the module. I tracked the line from where the motors are and there is no power going to those lines. I unplugged the end going into the module and there is no power coming out to that wire. Power is coming out, just not to the right pins. I searched and found one person said to take the key out and put it back in multiple times.. nothing.. i did it about 50 times, no lie. HELPPPP!!!!!

Did you check all the fuses? Do you hold the top switch down for a hot min or just press it once? Do all the windows go down?

Did you check the switch that's in the trunk? There's an ON and OFF switch in the trunk somewhere. I want to say that its on the driver side. I had a similar problem back when I had my gs-t spyder. I had taken everything apart and followed the wiring harness that had led me to that switch. Hope this helps.

You may get a click from the module, just might be the relays working, Do the windows automatically go down when you hit the top down switch? Try rolling the windows down manually , then hit the top down switch. Check all your fuses first but then I would check the shear pins on the motor gears. 9 times out of 10 thats where Converts will have issues.

i have NO idea how to get the little windows to go down.. the passenger side windows motor is gone, the drivers side is on its way out. I cant seem to locate the switch... I did find that there is a rear sway bar. I believe it is preventing the top from going all the way down is this true? any pictures of the switch? I took the motors apart and they seem to be fine. I dont see much metal loose in them and the still turn. please help!LOL.

A sway bar wont stop the top in any way. However, if you were referring to a strut bar yes that would keep it from going down. I'll take a pic of the switch for you in a minute :thumb:

Edit: here's the pic

It's mounted on the plastic on the driver side in the trunk and is just above the trunk light

the switch for the to is in the trunck on the drivers side. you have to remove the panel like you where going to change a bad tail light. its in there over by the power antenna. not sure thats what it is i dont think it would click if that switch was in the manual position but its worth a try. good luck.

If your 4 windows don't roll down, then your top will not go up and down automatically with the up/down switch on your dash. They are interlocked. If you want to raise and lower the top you need to fix the windows first.

i have back windows unplugged so they wont go down. Ive done this ### the plastic rollers are broke and i havent found a good solution ouside of buying new window regulators. I say this because thats hasnt stopped me from putting my top down just my rear windows dont go down.

Hey Guys,

Just bought my first DSM. Got the 97 GST spyder. It has a few problems that I was hoping you could help with.

I'm using the Service Manual Eclpse Spyder 1997 Vol 2 Electrical to trace out the constant 12v from the Fuse box under the hood. It starts at Fusible Link #3 goes through 2 connectors the gets applied to the Convertible Control Module at Pin 12 on E-53. My problem is that the drawing seems to be wrong in a few places and I don't want to put 12v where it doesn't belong. Is Pin 12(the Red wire with Blue stripe) the correct PIN? If it is I will just run a new wire back for the constant 12v.

My initial problem was when I push the top down button all windows go down and I hear the relays clicking on the module but neither motor turns (I've checked the auto manual switch I'm in Auto). Ive checked every pin but no constant 12v.

Thanks again for the help. Anyone need anything from me please ask.

Tim
